Happy Holidays & More
Greetings from SewingWeb.com!
As you may notice from the front page of the site, we're highlighting
holidays during November and December. We celebrated Thanksgiving on
November 28, and at midnight on November 29, Hanukkah begins. Coming up
are Christmas on December 25 and the beginning of Kwanzaa on December
26. It's a good time to say Happy Holidays in a big way!
SewingWeb.com will be updated often with holiday projects you may wish
to try. Scheduled to be added are greeting cards made with fabric,
Wonder Under, and paper or card stock; Christmas stockings; and maybe
one or two others. If you have ideas or would like us to write up
instructions for something you'd like to try, let us know.
Another feature we'll be trying to keep up to date is what's on sale
where. On the front page today, we noted the sale at Fabric.com and
also we've been talking about the variety of Joann sales (such as the
current sales flyer for your areas and how to receive their flyers by
mail). A site worth mentioning is Clotilde, as well. This is my
personal favorite and I order from them often. If you need it, they
probably have it. If you hear of a sale that you don't see listed, let
us know. Those of us who sew often would much prefer not to pay full
price if at all possible.
How about a fragrance for your home? Put a small pot of water on your
stove and add cloves, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and other spices you
enjoy and let it simmer. You can also use pumpkin pie spice or apple
pie spice if you don't have each individual one on hand. Go to your
sewing machine or quilting frame and enjoy.
You can make small ornaments for your Christmas tree with your favorite
fabric by cutting any shape, a filler, and a backing, stitching around
the edges, and turning, adding a small string for hanging. I use old
receiving blankets or towels for batting or filler. Other times, I sew
the ornament fabrics right sides together, leaving a small opening after
for turning, and then stuff for a 3-D ornament. This is a great way to
use up small bits of lace, special fabrics, and other notions and
embellishments you have around the house. We'd love to add pictures of
your creations to the SewingWeb.com gallery. Please send them in with a
short description.
Have a wonderful holiday season. Visit our message boards and talk
about what you're up to. We'd love to have you there.
Keep sewing and smiling,
